Why: Governor Shapiro joined me for a live conversation at Genghis Cohen, where we discussed everything from key issues in battleground states such as Pennsylvania, to why Donald Trump is one of the biggest threats to Israel, to the importance of open political dialogue.
Quote: “Kamala Harris is running against a guy who's the first person in our nation's history to refuse to peacefully transfer power. Right? He is a threat to democracy. And you don't have to take my word for it. Just listen to all the stuff he says and all the things he threatens. He is very, very dangerous politically. And so it is critically important that all the rules be followed. It's critically important that you have honorable people in these positions of authority and that each state kind of helps lift up the other one. The good news is when we were tested as a nation last time, our institutions held. When our states were tested, like in Georgia. By the way, they were republican office holders who did the right thing, their governor, the lieutenant governor, and their state, you know, secretary of state. People did the right thing. Now, that is not all of them, but most of them did. And our institutions held. Our country got through it. People were prosecuted for their role on January 6. Donald Trump is in the process of being prosecuted for his role on January 6. And I think it is important that we as a country, notwithstanding the trauma that Donald Trump brought to us, the chaos that he brought to us, we understand we did get through it, and we're going to get through this again.”
